There are numerous cults to be found on Innsmouth, though they keep their membership secret and many are few in number. Most will require character actions to discover them. Below is some information for those who are curious.
The Esoteric Order of Dagon
The fishermen and all workers at the Wharf are associated with the Esoteric Order of Dagon. Though, for the most part, members of the cult will only be spoken about as the EOD, Everyone's Obvious Duty. The EOD is known throughout the island as a charitable organization that donates fish to those in need! They often participate in the festivals that go on, donating a surplus of seafood for all to enjoy. They put on charitable events and are always looking for new recruits!
Getting to the Wharf is, as mentioned in the locations section, a difficult task. The people are not overly friendly unlike the rest of Innsmouth and they’re not inclined to talk to most people. The exceptions to this are:
characters with a tie to the sea
characters that are more inclined towards acts of thievery
characters that have an interest in wealth/leaning towards greed
characters who have been pushed into doing morally gray things for reasons out of their control.
characters down on their luck.
They’ll find a kindred sort of bond with those characters and may open up more after a pint or two at the bar.
They are easily recognizable by the amulet that many wear and perhaps that might be a good place to start when asking questions. It is possible for your character to join, or infiltrate, this cult if you’d like to learn more information. Doing so will also result in a few perks for your character if they get far enough along including: the ability to breath underwater, the ability to see at night and while in the water, and a general increase in their luck and wealth. Of course all perks come with a consequence, and these consequences include: your character developing gills and your character developing a looser set of morals.

Introductions
Mar. 9th, 2022 10:39 amI never really thought I'd be keeping a diary, but maybe this will keep my creative juices flowing even in the lean times. I guess I should start simply: my name is Heather McDonald. I'm 38 years old and I still roleplay on the internet as a legitimate hobby. I work in book sales at Banes & Noble, and while I realize that's a big box store, we were recently acquired by a private owner who allows us to have a lot of autonomy in what we carry.
I play video games, make way too many pop culture references, and I tend to talk too much, which I'm pretty sure annoys people.
I also have a tendency to barrel over people when they try to talk, which ive been working on, and maybe keeping this journal will help with that, too. If I talk to it, I won't interrupt other people to much. It's a lofty goal but one I'm willing to work toward.
